Tonight I teach my second class in a series of ten sessions on art and spirituality. We use a different medium each week in simple meditations which help us reflect on our spiritual journeys and our relationship with the Holy. We do hands-on art, often using our non-dominant hand in order t not  to control the outcome. The process of making art is in itself  insightful and spiritual. After we do the art meditation, we share as much as we want to with each other. Others' insights may be important to us. I find that this teaching gives me hope about the movements of the Spirit in our lives. I put out the art materials, lead the meditaion and guide the participants to the work, but their making art that is meaningful to them spiritually is out of my control. And it always happens. It gives me faith.
