Part Time Living

I work part time. Just a few hours every morning while my husband is home with our son. Even though I am home all afternoon and evening, I feel like I do not have enough time with my family. Our dear son naps 2+ hours of every afternoon, usually followed by a jaunt outside to get the mail and play outdoors a little bit, then dinner, bath and bed. My amazing husband works most afternoons and every weeknight, so while we share the parenting roles at home, it is only on weekends that we are home at the same time.

Some days I work away from home well into the late afternoon and only make it home in time for dinner, bath and bed. Generally I feel stuck in the middle. I do not feel I am giving my family or our home 100%, and I am not giving 100% at work either. I get the "you only work part time" from everyone, at home and at work. No one understands what it's like to always feel half-ass at everything. It sucks. So I've been reading a little, and it turns out that I am not alone. It also turns out that I really do have the best of both worlds!
