Make art with re-usable materials:
-a Junk Sculpture (made from such things as corks, small jars, lids, toilet paper tubes)
-a Collage of Earth (made from used tissue paper, scrap paper, packing paper, leaves)
-a Flower Vase (made from an old jar with tissue paper glued and modge podged to it)
-a Paper Bag (make one from old art)
-Make your child the Electricity Monitor for a day. Give them a clipboard and check list of lights to turn off and power cords to unplug if not in use. This is a fun activity that I did as a child and I had so much fun doing it, that it went on for weeks and months!
-Go on a neighborhood or beach trash collection walk. Give your child plastic gloves and a sustainably made garbage bag. Take pictures and share them with us! Show us what kinds of trash you find!
-Plant an organic garden with your children....if you don't already have one. Use your own soil and use compost for fertilizer. Try to find organic seedlings to plant or organic seeds.
Green On! Happy Earth Day!
