Why wait until the leaves change color before you change your nail polish shades? As seasons change, so does your makeup. This fall, nail trends run from barely-there nudes (as seen at theCarolina Herrera, Oscar de la Renta, and Helmut Lang shows), to deep bold reds, some of them bordering on browny-reds (spotted at the Yigal Azrouël, Nicole Miller,, and Kenneth Cole shows), to wild grays—pale to deep glitzy (at the Vera Wang, Carmen Marc Valvo and DKNY shows). But wait—there’s more! Shiny, slick metallic nails: You wore them all spring and summer, and they're still around this fall. Gleaming metal shades were seen at the Mara Hoffman, Dannijo and Proenza Schouler shows.

The nudes range from almost white to greige, while the metallic and gray polishes go from pale to midnight shades. Red ranges from crimson to oxblood to burgundy.

Check out this roundup to get your color wheel spinning.
