I’m in “The Hot Mom Handbook”

handbookcover21.jpg“The Hot Mom To Be Handbook: Womb With A View” by Jessica Denay prominently features an article written by yours truly in Chapter 3. I went to the book launch party hosted by Trista Sutter last night and it was a maternity mob scene.

The Hot Moms Club and A Pea in The Pod maternity store in Beverly Hills teamed up to throw this event — Trista Sutterand just to get in through the doors, we had to navigate a crush of photographers, news cameras from ET, press and a tangle of velvet ropes and tourists craning their necks to celebrity watch. I was baffled as to why a book party with a bunch of moms and pregnant women could inspire so much interest. But once I got inside and saw the celebrity mommies milling around, I got it.

My husband and I were totally pinned in by people and could barely move. It didn’t help that a good 40% of the guests were hugely pregnant and took up more than their fair share of real estate. I was terrified of bumping or elbowing a gestating tummy, so I just stood rooted to the spot and moved my eyeballs. Even though it was threatening to rain outside and chilly, the collective body temperature of all the incubating women turned the climate inside to tropical and between the heat and the cramped quarters, I wanted to revert to a fetus as well. It was all I could do to keep myself from curling into a fetal ball on the floor and check out of the chaotic situation.

melissa-joan-hartI kept waiting for these pregnant women tottering in their high heels to drop like 200 lb. plus bricks and make some room, but these ladies were determined to go the distance. I felt like a total wuss with no stamina.

To stay alert, my husband and I played, “Spot That Celebrity Mom.” On the way in, I nearly collided with Melissa Joan Hart using her infant as a sort of human shield to plow through the crowd. I saw Garcelle Beauvais, Joely Fisher, Trista Sutter as well as a bunch of actresses who fall into the category of familiar faces with unfamiliar names. Apparently Alison Sweeney, Kristy Swanson, Holly Robinson Peete and Brooke Burke were also there, but I didn’t visually ID them.

I finally got to meet Jessica Denay in person, one of the co-founders of Hot Moms Club and the author of the book. We’d corresponded by email and by phone when she contacted me about printing my article, so it was great to finally give this beautiful woman a hug and congratulate her in person.

The final highlight of the evening was exiting the event, and watching the hopeful tourists straining against the velvet ropes lowering their camera phones with collective disappointment at the sight of a total nobody like me. I guess I’m a twisted person to find this so amusing.

I’m unsure exactly when the book will be available for purchase on Amazon, but I’ve been told sometime in May. But for now you can check it out at JessicaDenay.com.

The see some pictures here, and more publicity photos will also be in next week’s In Touch Magazine — and tonight’s ET will cover the event. But for now here’s a clip.
