That’s the heart of a national initiative called Power of Paws that educates consumers about the mutual health benefits that both pets and pet parents enjoy. Studies show that the presence of an animal can create a therapeutic environment as it turns off anxiety, anger and depression.
So go and cuddle that pup or kitty after a stressful Holiday season, you’ll be glad you did!
Power of Paws wants to give back to those furry friends who give us so much. All you have to do is register at www.powerofpaws.com and Power of Paws will donate $1 to a pet related charity. Once registered, please submit your own “tail” of how your pet (past or present) has helped you in your life.

There is nothing like the unconditional love you get from a pet. I find it especially beneficial after a hard and stressful day at work to come home to a happy dog. yoshi came to us as a baby of 6 weeks, and we have an older cat, dozer. yoshi came from a breeder and was the runt. we brought this gorgeous brown and silver shi-poo home and dozer sort of adopted him. he is almost a cat in puppys clothing!
he does all the dog things, but eats like a cat, minimunches, and tapping us like dozer with his paw, and other cutie things. he has made our family whole.

My vet told me that one of my yorkies needs to lose about two pounds. Since then, I’ve been measuring the food and making sure that my boy isn’t eating the girl’s food too. I still give treats, but make sure they’re healthy ones, and compensate by a little bit less food. Thanks for the contest.

I’m not sure my eight cats make my life less stressful. Indy is diabetic, Remy’s got a heart condition, Trickster has allergies, Wicket is OCD, Trickster and Presto fight all the time, Jynx wants to kill me, and right now, little Kali is behind me, eating ribbons. Misha is a good girl. She deserves the treats.

We have 2 cats and 2 dogs and each one is so much loved and I admit a little spoiled. We adopted all of them at our local shelter although sometimes I think they adopted us! Our oldest dog Buster is a mixture of a lot of breeds and at 13 has to watch his diet, which is hard to do as he loves to eat but we want to keep him healthy and with us for a long long time. Prudence is 4 and is also a mixture of everything nice and is so loving and caring that she is always looking out for Buster, kind of like a little sister!

I have 4 Dogs of my own, 2 Great Danes, a Golden Retriever and a Lab. We also have 3 foster dogs right now. A pitbull, Shephard and a Dane. We rescue troubled dogs and help them with their problems and find them their forever homes. Any extra treats would help out tremendously as these foster dogs deserve only the best!

Wow…my little guys would love this. They are use to getting rewarded with a treat every time they go outside successly…1) In the right area of the yard 2) Don’t wander over into a neighbor’s yard 3) Come when they are called to come back inside the house. They really are so good 98% percent of the time. The youngest (3 years) occassionally get wanderlust.

I have a mini dacshund. Shaylee is a Great comfort to me. I am in constant paing due to congental hip dysplasia and scoliosis. (allergic to metal and cant have surgery). Shaylee knows when I am hurting the most and is right there to comfort me. She deserves so much and this would be a wonderful gift. Thank you for the chance.

I have 3 cats that are awesome! I am also taking care of my sister’s 2 dogs since Hurricane Ike Destoryed her home.
The kitties have to stay in a bedroom all day & the puppies get to comeout & play. At night the pupppies go to their room & the kitties come out all night.
I have to jungle this everday!
It’s like a zoo!
I could truly use the cat & dog goodies. They have been real troopers & deserve it!
