Fruit is the new flower!

I must confess, I kill all living things. (Except puppies.)

I even once accidentally killed my fish. (Certain sea-life-loving best friends should not read the next few sentences…) But what happened was, once upon a time, my whole family was away on vacation for a few weeks, and I was fish-sitting. As I was a teenager, and sort of self-absorbed, I sort of forgot to feed him. Or change his water. Or acknowledge his existence in any way. Ultimately, he died, and disintegrated in his own filth. That’s about when my parents came home.

Sadly, this lack of natural caring instincts extends to flowers…which I kill. Much like plants, which I also kill. It seems, actually, the only living things I can’t destroy are, well, vermin.

Anyway.

I’ve realized I can end my reign of terror AND have an adorable centerpiece by embracing all things Edible Arrangements. Not only are they super trendy right now, but they are also entirely summer-fashionable AND great for the health conscious among us!

How great an alternative to flowers is this?? It’s pretty, it’s edible, it’s functional, it’s practical…and it may even be a little thought-provoking! (Friends, that is not a bad thing.) They have tons of varieties, but one of the hottest arrangements this summer is the Mango Kiwi Blossom, a mix of fresh mango wedges, juicy kiwi slices, strawberries, grapes and pineapple daisies. But they also have arrangements that are dipped in chocolate, for those of you who crave a little sin with your sweet. (I’ve been there!)

I have one gift certificate, good for a complimentary Edible Arrangements Mango Kiwi Blossom arrangement, to give away. To have your chance to win, answer the following fun questions:

1 - Why do you NEED to have an Edible Arrangement of your very own?

2 - Do you think you owning one (and eating one) will in some way contribute to saving the living things of this world? (Yes, 1 and 2 are related!)

3 - What is the saddest thing you’ve ever done to a living thing in your charge? (Plants, animals, people, all count.)

4 - Four LIFE CHANGING things you’ve learned from my blog this month. It’s true. Lives have been changed…read back and see for yourself!

What is the saddest thing you’ve ever done to a living thing in your charge? (Plants, animals, people, all count.) I had to provide hospice care for my mother in law. I was also taking care of her dog. Although i fed and walked her dog I was so busy caring for my mother in law that I wasn’t able to take him to the vet. When my mother in law passed away we were so in grief that I didn’t notice at first that her dog wasn’t eating. I kind of thought he was upset because his “mommy” was gone. After all he used to sit at her feet inches from the bed just in case she could go for a walk. By the time i noticed it had been about a month. My husband had been upset about his mother’s passing and I was trying to get back some semblance of normalcy.

I took the dog to the vet and that’s when we discovered that he had cancer. We were told that at this point they could treat him but it was doubtful that he would get any benefit from this. I had to help my husband decide whether to put Sabre down. This had been his dog since he was 10. I feel guilty that we had to put him down. I wonder and wonder if I could have seen something sooner but I will never really know

    - Why do you NEED to have an Edible Arrangement of your very own?
I never have anything of my oown- I have a teenage daughter!

2 - Do you think you owning one (and eating one) will in some way contribute to saving the living things of this world? Yes, I would live off the fruit of Aly-tude, not of the land
3 - What is the saddest thing you’ve ever done to a living thing in your charge? I looked at a plant and it died
4 - Four LIFE CHANGING things you’ve learned from my blog this month.
    1) I, me and myself do count, even though I try to be the peacemaker, psychiatrist, nutrition expert, not to mention life coach for this household.
    2) That over 40 doesn’t mean the end of the world, in fact, it’s pretty cool!
    3) there are alot of insightful things on here, that give me alot of food for thought.
    4) We are all family on here- loved by all.

1 - Aside from the fact that I’ve always wanted to try them, I do not eat nearly enough fruit, something so pretty to look at would give me encouragement

2 - Of course it would, eating it will prevent scurvy or rickets or whatever one my mom always tells me I’ll end up with since I don’t eat enough fruit, so eating the fruit, will save me, and saving me will help save others!

3 - When I was young I got a pair of parakeets, and I wanted to keep them close to me, and I put the cage near the window. Well it was wintertime and even with the window closed, they got pnuemonia and died two weeks later! (I’m sure that tragedy could have been prevented had I been eating beautiful arrangements of fruit!)

    4 -

    A) That Amadeus Tranquility Solid Sateen 400 TC Cotton Sheet Set from QVC will change my sleep which will change my life

B)That you can have eyebrows done by students in training, I knew you could do that with hair, but not eyebrows. I also learned that I don’t want to hear the word ‘burly’ associated with me EVER!

C)Back to bedding, I also learned that I need to try CleanRest and their line of mattress and pillow encasements!

D)That making my own soda means less plastic to pollute the environment, and that can definitely save the planet! Go Aly!

Here’s a bonus one: I also learned that if I need a petsitter, I should hire Aly and provide her with lots of cookies and cream ice cream for motivation!

Love, a gift is a sign of love and I NEED love to survive.
Yes, One person can change the world. So if by eating the fruits I am able to change the world. Then maybe the world the world would be better.
I got angry when my dog ate my favorite toy. As a child I got very angry. I grabbed my dog and yelled very loudly. She cowarded. I was a bully. I felt badly.

    4 -
    a. Remember that one person can make a difference.
    b. Fruit can be beautiful on the outside as well as good for you.
    c. Bedbug….OMGosh I thought they were tales out of a fairy tale NOT real. ICK. Time to get new bed covers & pillow covers. ICK.

Thank you so much for this wonderful giveaway.
1.I need to have a edible arrangement of my own because I’ve admired these for awhile now and would really love to try this. It looks so pretty. I love fruit and like you, flowers do not last long around me. We also have a cat that will “play” and knock over any flowers in our home, so this would be the closest I can get to having flowers in our home.
    2. Yes, I think by having one of these will help me from screaming at our cat for knocking down a real flower arrangement.
    3. The sadest thing that I’ve done to a living thing in my charge, is killing my neighbors pet fish while they were away. I was in charge of feeding their fish for them while they were away and somehow the plug get detached from the wall for the tank. Upon my next visit…floating fish. I felt so horrible, but they were very understanding.
    4. a. I’ve learned that you can buy high end luxury sheets at a reasonable cost.
    b. That some salons will offer free services in exchange for you donating your time to their required practice hours. Great for someone on a budget!
    c. I learned about CleanRest. Where you can get mattress and pillow covers that no liquids or allergens can penetrate. What a wonderful product.
    d. I learned about Fizzy fantasies. No more flat soda. I love that it’s earth friendly, whereby you reuse bottles. I also love that they have a number of different flavors and if your soda happens to go flat…you can refizz it.
Thanks so much for this wonderful giveaway. I really would love to win this yummy edible arrangement…

    1) When my daughter was five my parents took her from me due to my alcoholism. I moved to florida April 4 2007, the day my daughter turned 19, with 10 1/2 years sobriety, my car payed off and money saved for the move after years of working two and three jobs.
mothers day 2008 I saw her get her associates degree with 3.8 GPA. Even though she lives five minutes from me, she sent me a card saying thanks for being at my college graduation, standing beside me and cheering me on
    2) Edible arrangements keep people from removing flowers or plants from Gods green earth to send to someone as an arrangement
3)When I was little, I closed my sisters bedroom door and let her bird fly around the bedroom. I thought it would be cool to flip the lights on and off light a strobe light. This freaked the bird out and it ran into the wall and broke its neck.
    4) To be earth friendly, no more flat sodas, retail therapy, and that I can’t make it on my own

I could really use an edible arrangement. Since I live in Alabama, it’s about a million degrees outside this time of year. Needless to say I spend alot of time indoors being bored. When I get bored I also get the “major Munchies”! I’ll eat anyting that’s not nailed down. Edible Arrangements Has got to be better for me than tons of choclate!

  16. Karen Hurst

This great for bringing to a party, not only serves as covered dish, but great centerpeice as well.

  17. monica

1 - Because they look delicious! And I would share it with my friends at our monthly scary movie night - for once a healthy snack!

2 - I will be more healthy and thus have a better chance at saving the world, which just wont happen if i eat a moon pie!

3 - I used to call my little sister stinky, sadly i think she started believing it.

4- Don’t be afraid to take your doggy to the groomer :)

  18. Angela J

1-I love fruit and it’s so darned expensive now
2-Anything this healthy has to have a positive effect
3-Among others, I neglected to secure one of my children when I placed her in her infant seat on the kitchen counter and she tumbled to the floor
4-Life changing? It may encourage my husband to eat fresh fruit so I can enjoy his company longer, it might do the same for me, although I do eat a lot of fruit, if I won it might encourage my kids to try their hand and may change their lives in a positive way, reading blogs may be counter productive to living well, really (I spend too much time at the computer as it is)

  19. TISHA STEPHENSON

I WOULD LOVE TO TRY THIS PRODUCTS FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME!!!!!!

  20. TheOtherAllie

1.) I am trying to find fun new ways to enjoy fruit, and an Edible Arrangement is perfect! It doubles as decor, is yummy, and will be my favoritest snack until… well, until I manage to polish it off.

2.) Well, I guess a mango will have died to make my arrangement. However, if any of the fruits have pits, I pledge to plant one and see if it grows into a tree or shrub. Really.

3.) I love plants. I kill plants. I am guilt stricken about this. I keep buying them and potting them, and then they wither up and die. :(

4.) I learned that BED BUGS are a very real concern for city-dwellers such as myself. I also learned of the existance of Fungus Gnats (who knew?). I learned about tees that are green literally and figuratively by Humanity Ink. AND, I didn’t REALLY learn, but I ENJOYED your very-special announcement about Caroline the Fish, who makes the world a better place simply by being!

I had quite a sad animal episode happen many years ago. I’m a big animal lover. After my son was born, I decided to introduce him to animals. I went to the pet store and bought a hamster (I had many of them as a child). It was a female. About a year later I thought I’d buy a male to keep the female company. Instead of getting pregnant, one morning I woke up and discovered the female had killed the male and (the graphic part) eaten his head completely off. I’ve never bought another hamster again.

1 - Why do you NEED to have an Edible Arrangement of your very own? Because I never had one and I can assure you no one would send me one.

2 - Do you think you owning one (and eating one) will in some way contribute to saving the living things of this world? Yes I will have fresh fruit to eat and I would not want any other food so I probably would eat fruit instead of hamburger thus saving a cow.

3 - What is the saddest thing you’ve ever done to a living thing in your charge? I have killed a few plants in my life.

4 - Four LIFE CHANGING things you’ve learned from my blog this month. It’s true. Lives have been changed… Over 40 does not mean the end of the world and I matter

  24. Janet

  26. Angela Engelhardt

It looks almost to pretty to eat.

  27. Elizabeth M.

I need to send it to my daughter at college because she’s wasting away.

Yes, it will help save my daughter. She is vegan and so because of her restrictive food choices, she’s losing a lot of weight. I need to feed her.

Our fish got ick (sp?) and it was going to die and so we flushed it down the toilet.

I learned that there are encasements for pillows and bedding that I must have for my sanity. I did a check for bedbugs in my house and we’re clean. I can now call myself a recessionista and flaunt my title with pride. And most importantly, I’ve learned that there are mutant creatures on the beaches of Montauk and I should avoid that location at all costs.

  28. Steve Scott

My wife is always trying to get us to eat fruit. Maybe the boys would eat it off this pretty decoration.

  29. Alicia

    fruit flowers how neat

  30. D Johnson

    Sweet

  31. kiyana

    1. I need to have my own cause nobody will give me one! Plus if its edible, I’ll eat it esp if its good for me!

    2. I’d like to say yes, but the end result will probably be no since the edible arrangement were all living at one time and if anything it will encourage me to eat more living things like fruits and plants!

    3. Had a plant once when I was a kid. I watered it everday for a few days, ….. then I kind of forgot about it. About a month later I remembered about it again and I found a pot with dirt in it. I think that used to be my plant. So I haven’t planted anything since!

    4. I don’t need any more jewelry and clothes but they sure make me feel alot better, I can have blast even when I’m all alone, I can be cheap and not really feel cheap, and fruit is fashionable and good for you!

  32. Lori
