Prom night!

As tonight is the prom (see back entries for more on what this is!), I am in a little bit of a hurry to get my ass out of Brooklyn and on a train to New Jersey.

This year, rather than making a dress fuss, I am engaging in true retro-accord (the concept of this prom is a nostalgic look back at our own prom-eras), and am wearing the actual dress I wore to my bat mitzvah. It still fits! Kinda. Will keep you posted on if I get through the night without exploding fabric.

Now, the question: Press-on nails. Retro chic or just a little tacky-redundant? I have one hour to decide.

    Press-on nails = a little tacky
Unless you can make them look salon quality, don’t use them! Please! ;-)

a lot tacky, which is why they’re perfect for this occasion. the prom committee will be taking these details into consideration while deciding this year’s royal court. let’s just say that the road to the tiara is paved with cheese.

I think if they are applied skillfully, press-ons (or even glue ons) can be retro chic. I have been using glue on toenails (the French-pedicure style) all summer and have received numerous compliments. The choice few I choose to tell the toenails are fake are completely amazed and have to get close to my feet to verify.
