The most fun you will ever fit in your pocket!
One of my most awesome friends recently went out of town to an industry conference and returned with a totally hot pink Space Goddess coffee tumbler for me.
The reason for this? She knows me well - and she knows that two of my most embodying characteristics are the love of all things adorable and pink and, well, total and complete unapologetic geek pride.
(See below post on my devastation over my loss of specs, and you will understand.)
And, so, last year when Nintendo sent me my pink DS Lite, I had about 12 mini-orgasms of hand-held fun-having glee, and proceeded to carry it everywhere I went. As I sat on the subway, I played my mind-training (and mind-numbing) games until smoke came out of them. And then I gave away systems to several of you. (To MUCH mud-slinging!)
Since that pinnacle moment in Alytude history, I have added a Wii (with Wii Fit, of course) to my Nintendo altar…but I have to say…my pink DS (as quintessentially me as the bright-yellow Beetle I vow to own one day soon), has stayed closest to my heart.
So I was super excited when Nintendo contacted me and asked if I was willing to do it all again!
TWO readers will each win a DS and a copy of one of their newest, coolest games - Crosswords DS! It includes: Over 1,000 crossword puzzles, anagrams and word-search puzzles with several levels of increasingly challenging puzzles, and super sexy stylus control. You can use the DS stylus to touch the puzzle screen and fill in letters in Crosswords, slide your word tile in Anagrams, and locate hidden words in Word Search.
This is, indeed, as the post title says - the most awesome fun you could ever fit in your pocket. (If you’ve seen my video at right, shut up. This is a family contest!)
To have your chance to win, you know the drill. Please tell me about your own most-happy-pants gaming moment ever. Oh, and also three things you learned in my blog this week, so that I know you actually read and aren’t here for the loot! Deadline to enter is June 25.
Fun fact! Aly Walansky wrote this story just for you on June 18th, 2008 |

I think my most happy-pants gaming moment ever was when I actually GOT my first gaming system (Nintendo).
I wanted one and we couldn’t afford it, and then when it was a bit “old” I came home and there it was - along with the standard Mario/Duck Hunt and a little game called Final Fantasy.
I absolutely fell in love with Final Fantasy and it began a lifelong addiction to the series.
I too, had a Pink DS Lite. I wanted a DS Lite very badly and my husband surprised me with the last existing unit in a 100 mile radius for Christmas and I loved it. And then my little (10 year old) sister’s was stolen from my mom’s care…so I sucked it up, packed it up and mailed her my DS and all the games.
On the plus side, I have a Beetle and I LOVE IT.

How was your Rocco dinner? I was the lucky girl and met him once a year or so ago - nice guy.

This is a hard thing to choose because I play SO many games and well, there are always those great gaming moments for each and every game. Hmm…okay, my most-happy-pants gaming moment ever involves the PC game, The Sims 2. I use to play a lot of The Sims because I love the game, it is one of the most fun PC games I have ever played. It is just so entertaining and well, I can play it for hours and hours. The chance to control a Sim is hilarious and great because one can make him/her do anything and everything! However, when The Sims 2 came out and then, all the expansion packs for it, my computer couldn’t handle it. It was a pretty old computer too and it made the graphics and the speed of the game terrible and slow. I learnt one thing and it was that: The Sims 2 required a lot of memory for it to run smoothly. I uninstalled all of the Sims from my computer and went on with life, trying to forget about the Sims and the Sims 2. This was about a couple of years ago. Anyways, a few months ago, my family and I decided to buy a new computer, finally. I gave my computer to my little sister and we bought a brand new computer that had great memory, RAM, graphics, all those other computer features/specs that I won’t go into because I don’t know that much about them, haha.
A week after we set it up, I sat down in front of the new computer and installed the Sims 2. My heart was absolutely racing because it had been forever since I had played it. The opening video of the Sims 2 started, the welcome menu popped up and when I heard the Sims 2 music in the background…well, I think that was my most-happy-pants gaming moment ever! I was so extremely excited and happy, my heart was pounding…I had a huge smile on my face. Everything was running smoothly (except when it snowed, then it lags a little bit), the graphics were stunning and I was, once again, addicted to this game. All the memories of playing this game came rushing back as I created a new Sim family and it is a moment I will never forget. It truly is amazing how a game can make one feel so joyful and terrific. I think I Was more excited about getting the chance to play the Sims 2 than the new computer, haha.
The first thing I learned in your blog this week was that you attended a fantastic (and quite secretive) event hosted by Rocco DiSpirito! I saw him appear on the Biggest Loser a few months ago and that’s why I thought he sounded so familiar! I hope you got his autograph, hehe. The second thing I learned was that money, around $30 or so, goes a long, long way! I had no idea that Payless has lines for designers…probably because I haven’t shopped there in months, but hey, at least now I know! Those shoes you posted are gorgeous!
The third thing I learned was that going green is happening everywhere, including using organic products for skincare. It is so great to see that because I think it is important and going green is something that will lead to a better Earth and in this case, gorgeous and healthy beauty products.
As I say for all giveaways: thank you Aly for having a giveaway like this.

Also that you better come to my event on Sept 4th! Its shaping up with some amazing collections
Love ya. Matt

Happiest gaming moment? Probably when I first got my first system - a Sega Genesis. It was like the gods shined down upon me that day. I spent hours, days, nights playing Sonic!
I learned about the trends in beauty and going green (which is awesome). Why’s it all the cool products come from other countries?

(continued because comment got cut off!) Bertoli pasta which is ZOMG yum. I’m craving some right now. I could go for some fettuccini Alfredo.
And how to be trendy without sexually harassing my wallet. I don’t think those shoes are for me, though!

Two things I’ve learned about you are that like me you wear glasses and like me you’ve lost them. Unlike me you have a spare. I presume that unlike me you can’t really get around without them.
I also learned you have an obsession with polka dots. Which is interesting i used to know a girl who was the same way with vertical stripes.
I have a lot of happy gaming moments. One of my favourites that I like to share is playing Prince of Persia: Sands of Time on my gamecube. That game was filled with joy from about 3 minutes in till I finished. I thank my lucky stars every day that I had the time to finish that game it was just pure FUN the entire way thru. Everything about that game urges you to finish it. It has the greatest feature of all time. If you make a mistake and die you can rewind time and do it again. On top of that getting the Prince to the end of every puzzle was just fun. He’s athletic and the game is smooth. It will be the FIRST game I replay as soon as I get thru the stuff I’m playing now.

I would have to say my most happy pants gaming moment would have to be beating Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on N64. When I first got the game it took me forever to get to the end and I was never able to beat the final boss. Then I gave up and didn’t play the game for about a year. When I played it again it only took me a few hours to get to the end and beat it. I was so excited and couldn’t believe how easy it seemed. How
How was your Rocco dinner btw? . I wear glasses too, mine are covergirl brand. I get so many compliments on them. And judging by all the pictures in your blog and the layout I am sure you love the color pink.

So, three things first:
1. I’m not the only one to have lost a pair of sunglasses and felt totally destroyed for the rest of the day for it.
2. A dinner can involve signing an NDA? Who knew!
3. Skin care companies are finally starting to make organic products more accessible. Yay!!
And here’s my happy gaming moment:
I’ve been a gaming nerd forever, and when my little cousin was born ten years ago, I was so excited I’d have a little nerd to teach how to play games someday. As he grew older, his parents realized something wasn’t right and he was diagnosed with autism. He has a hard time communicating, and I never felt like I had a real connection with him in his own little world. My happy moment occurred when his mom got him a game boy like mine, and we started to play Pokemon together. His mind is very organized, so this is the game for him. It may not be a true conversation, but I finally feel like we have something to connect over, and even though it’s something as silly as a video game, it’s still my happy - no - *overjoyed* gaming moment.

My absolute best gaming moment was not all that long ago, downing Illidan in World of Warcraft. My group’s been together for three years and we’ve toppled every boss in the game as they’ve come out, but by taking down what we’ve all agreed is really THE end boss of Warcraft (everything else comes after Warcraft 3) is pretty much the pinnacle of everything we’ve accomplished.
I’ve learned from your blog that Argan Oil is from Morocco and has anti-aging properties and is the main ingredient in a product called Ila, that one of the Sex and the City ladies has a line of shoes that are available at Payless, and that the latest fashion this summer (according to Lulu Fashion Lounge) is strapless maxi dresses and gladiator shoes.

Things I’ve learned:
1) There’s a wine called Polka Dot. That’s quite comical!
2) I’ve learned that the iPod actually has some really neat accessories.
3) Boxers are quite good for robbing.
Best Gaming Moment:
Oh wow, there’s several. But one I hold near and dear to my heart is when I played ‘Sonic Adventure 2 Battle’ with my best friend Ryan, we played and played. This was about the only game we ever played except for ‘Super Smash Bros. Melee.’
It’s been awhile since I’ve seen Ryan now. But I still hold that memory of him and I playing those games near and dear to my heart. He was my childhood best friend, my game buddy, everything.

I had knee surgery two weeks ago, which means that I’ve spent the past two weeks cooped up inside my home, until someone is able to come and take me to physical therapy (or just outside, so that I don’t go completely crazy). I have never had a game console - well, that’s a lie, we had one of the very first consoles when I was twelve, back in the eighties - so I was surprised at how fascinated I was, when I saw the DS Lite/celebrity commercials (one of which is on at this very moment!). I’m also very interested in exercising my brain, so I figured that would be a great excuse to buy one.
I bought my cobalt blue DS Lite a couple of days after my surgery, and I haven’t put it down since. My greatest moment was when I bought my first game, Super Mario Bros. Since then, I’ve bought five other games, and I’m looking forward to getting more. Since the DS Lite is very portable, I take it everywhere I go, and it makes physical therapy much more bearable.

Happiest moment: Getting to medium on Guitar Hero and impressing the pants off my husband….not literally
Saddest moment: letting my 21 year old brother borrow my white ds lite to travel to London for 2 months, only to have it return tea stained and nonworking. He suggested blowing on it like you would an old nintendo game. Umhhhh!
(1) Just found your website thru livejournal
(2) I too love polka dot wine
(3) Organic Face Stuff is on the rise (although I sort of already knew that….I work for Origins Skincare)!

In my first year of university and living in dorms, this boy who lived right above me (I could hear him tapping his feet to music everyday) automatically assumed I wasn’t the type of girl to play games and stupidly challenged me to play Mario Kart 64. Needless to say, I beat him and he just kept challenging me to rematch after rematch. After three weeks of this, in the midst of one of my boastful victory dances after yet another glorious triumph, he held me and kissed me for the first time. And that, my friends, was better than all my Mario Kart 64 wins combined.

As for what I learned from the one and only Alytude this week:
1. There is a very potent Moroccan anti-aging oil that I need to get my hands on.
2. Goddess Patricia Field, as well as Alice + Olivia, has teamed up with Payless to give us beautiful shoes at even more beautiful prices.
3. Bottlesnotes.com is the wine enthusiast’s personal shopper!

I’ve become a real fan of the video game “Rock Band.” I love singing, guitar, and bass, but I suck at drums. Anyway. I love it so much I was trying to see about getting my own game console. But that costs $…
I’m REALLY REALLY happy because LOTS of my friends have it. Currently 4 of my very close friends invite me over to play with them. And they think I do it for the pleasure of their company…
Shshh — don’t tell them the truth!
Three things I learned this week:
1.) In South Beach, you RANDOMLY MET my high school friend, Amanda!!
2.) The Pasta Event is strictly a secret, we must not speak of it until it is unveiled to the WORLD.
3.) Your sunglasses might be resting in peace… however, my fingers are crossed that they may eventually turn up.
June 19th, 2008 at 6:43 pm
My most happiest gaming moments ever would have to be finally beating all of the other people’s high schores in the game “Icy Tower.” (It’s downloadable for free online).
Now, the three things that I have learned in reading your blog are:
1. The Solstice Sunglass Boutique store will be celebrating the beginning of summer tomorrow at stores nationwide.
2. You love gaming products (mainly Nintendo-related), and
3. Patricia Field made (high-heeled) shoes and sandals at about $30 (which are still fashionable and won’t leave a dent in your money). =)

After a night of partying on Christmas Eve, I came home tired to wrap presents and set up toys under the tree, I bought the kids an Atari, and I thought I’d take it out the box and set it up on the TV to surprise the kids. Well of course I had to test it. So I was playing games all night and laughing and having fun. On Christmas morning, my daughter says “mom I think Santa found something very funny last night, because I heard footsteps and noises and laughing, what was he doing?” I had to contain myself and try not to laugh!
June 19th, 2008 at 11:26 pm
It would have been when I was the first of my friends to find the sword in “Sword of Fargal” - really old commodore 64 game. It’s just to bad there was a bug in the game and you couldn’t finish it.
Am I dating myself here? lol

You had an awesome time at the Bertolli event and sounds like you really enjoyed the food.

My happiest gaming moment is seeing the joy on my friends’ faces when they play their DS lites. They are synched, competing alone or together. It looks like such fun, I cannot help but be happy for them. One day, maybe, I’ll be able to join them in their glee with a DS lite of my very own.
Things I’ve learned:
1. Polka dots are good for more than just clothes or shoes… they are good for drinking, too!
2. Passion can come in a bottle (Prosecco) or from a super sexy man who can cook! (We

2. Passion can come in a bottle (Prosecco) or from a super sexy man who can cook! (We “heart” Rocco!)
3. Maxis aren’t just for “that time of the month” any more. They’re now in dress form and are HOT for summer…and apparently look rockin’ with gladiator-style sandals.

my sincerest apologies for the extra, non-working post.
