“I curse the day you were born!”
I have, minutes ago, returned from seeing Sex and the City.
As I’m sure many of you have not seen it yet, I am hesitant to give away any major plot points.
But I can say:
1 - Watching the movie made me ever-the-more appreciate the awesome female friends I have.
2 - It also made me appreciate cosmos, and cupcakes. (As in the lovely post-movieĀ chocolate cupcake and cosmo we enjoyed!)
3 - Big/Carrie resolution? I have mixed feelings. Will discuss more when it’s not opening weekend. But..I will say the ending proved to be true to everyone’s character, which is what we truly all hoped for.
More soon…Please share your own thoughts!
PS: Early in the film, Carrie says that all women in the city are looking or one of the two L’s - love or labels. Do you think that’s true?
Fun fact! Aly Walansky wrote this story just for you on May 31st, 2008 |

You know I am boycotting the film and all, but I’ll answer the L question.
I’m not here for love and I’m especially not here for labels (UGH). I’m here for the big C (CAREER).

boy did i make a mistake by going to see Indiana Jones at the Loews on 34th street on Friday. that place was packed with SATC devotees. it was more than a little surreal. the line to the bathrooms was insane. some were using the mens room. everyone was so dressed up i felt like i was in a club.

Simultaneously, I was having a guys night to see IRON MAN. I doubt that anything the SATC girls were wearing was as impractical as the 6 inch stilettos Gwyneth Paltrow was RUNNING in during the last 3rd of the movie! Wow. My calves ache just thinking about it.
I salute all women for the agony you must go through in the name of fashion.
I don’t think the double L is true. I think most women are looking for themselves, and we all know they ain’t gonna find that through love and labels!
