Facial Fanatic
As a beauty editor, you get the opportunity to be something of a beauty ho. Each week, you visit a salon for a new treatment, whether it’s hair, skin, or hair removal (and much in between). You hardly ever visit the same place twice, because you owe it to your readers to experience as much variety as possible, passing it on to them. (Really, how much could you learn from, say, me going to the same salon regularly to get the same hair cut? Nothing. Exactly.)
That said, I feel compelled to keep getting my facials at Joanna Vargas skincare in New York City…and no amount of editor-guilt is curing me of my obsession. Once you’ve experienced the best, who needs the rest? (It has to be true, it’s what’s written on my pizza delivery box.)
This afternoon, I visited Joanna’s senior aesthetician, Jennifer, for a purifying facial and introduction to her new LED light treatment, which targets cellulite, fine lines and wrinkles, scars and blemishes, and noninvasively shines on you doing its work during the facial process.
The purifying facial was a dream come true, and definitely what my over-caffeinated-over-sugared-over-stressed skin needed.
It is a deep cleansing facial that gently exfoliates dead skin with a diamond tip wand. Once the exfoliation is completed, Jennifer used a range of organic products to heal and nourish my face, customized for my skin type. (i.e. super dry and sensitive).
An hour later, my skin was literally aglow. It still is! If I’m going to stalk, clearly I’ve chosen the right place.

ooo that’s soo sooooo cool.
you know - i got a really cool handheld ‘pen’ (called the dermastyle) from lumiport.com. it uses red and blue light - individually or combined - to combat pimples and redness. you’ve reminded me i should fetch it out of it’s hidey shelf and implement it more often. thank you!!!

That sounds EXCELLENT. My skin is really dry these days, too. Maybe it is time for a facial!!
