Be a smarter snacker
This weekend, Larry, my very anti-whole-grain brother, tried Mr. Krispers for the first time.
This is a guy who refers, generally, to white bread as “real bread” and shuns brown rice on matter of principle.
A few minutes later, I got an IM…
“This is damned good stuff!”
High praise, indeed.
Mr. Krispers and Steaz energy drinks are part of a very big (and very important) movement toward organic, healthy snacks. In fact, BevNet named Steaz Energy as the best energy drink of 2007. Steaz is built on the idea that energy drinks shouldn’t be loaded with corn syrup and preservatives. Instead, the boost comes from four quality ingredients: organic Fair Trade Certified Ceylon green tea, organic Guayaki yerba mate, organic Sambazon Acai, and organic Guarana.
Mr. Krispers is rooted in the same healthy premise - based on a traditional rice cracker technology from Japan (Usuyaki), made from heart healthy whole grains and other all-natural ingredients, they have 60% less fat than traditional chips, and are a low fat, low sugar, and gluten free alternative to traditional fried snacks.
Both are a great part of the “better for you” trend in the snack industry, and part of a new standard in snacking. Steaz and Mr. Krispers believe so much in helping us all be smarter snackers that they are awarding a gift basket packed with goodies to five lucky readers! Each basket will contain:
Each prize will consist of one each of the following:
- Mr. Krispers Baked Rice Krisps – Sour Cream & Onion
- Mr. Krispers Baked Rice Krisps – Sea Salt & Pepper
- Mr. Krispers Baked Nut Chips – Toasted Almond
- Steaz® Energy™ - Berry
- Steaz® Energy™ - Orange
- Steaz® Diet Sparkling Green Tea – Black Cherry
To have your chance to be a winner, please tell me your own snacking high and low - do you have a halo of fruits and veggies? Or devil horns of chips and cake? Tell me your angel and your devil - and how this gift will fit into it, and you may win! Extra credit if you read back a few days and catch some of the snacking no-nos that have befallen me! Deadline February 29th.

my angelic halo glow?
the most excellent flat earth impossibly good (really, that’s what they’re called) fruit and veggie chips (1/2 serving of real fruit per serving!)
i’d say my pointy horns would be made from chocolate eclairs, and a devilish trident topped with a basket of charley brown’s fireball wings.with onion rings of course. because of the spicy… sigh.

I try to snack healthy but it tends to be hard with so many different choices of junk food out there! I have started eating plenty of veggies lately though!

I always try to snack on healthy goods - but ofcourse none of us are perfect. I’ve as of late, have discovered Kashi TLC crackers. The 7 grain ones are delicious and I now rather snack on them than potatoe chips. I think my worst snacking (especially this time of year) is chocolate. Easter candy for some reason gets me crazy - especially Cadburi and the pastel m&m’s - maybe it’s the pretty colors of the season, not sure, but it’s a killer.
I have to admit as I was reading the other comments I sort of chuckled to myself while reading Susan P. - I totally do that exact same thing. The other night I indulged in Baskin Robins Peanut Butter Cup sundae and then the next morning had a measured 1 cup of Kahsi Go Lean with Skim milk. See, no one is perfect.

My snacking is almost always angelic in the morning and afternoon - snap peas, vegan shakes, hummus and celery. But if I stay up late, bad stuff happens - cream cheese dip on nacho chips, Pocky sticks, and whatever bad stuff is to be found in the house. So if I were Aly, I’d resist the vegan raspberyr chocolate chip loaf.. if I encountered it before 9 pm.

When I can plan ahead, my snacking is VERY HEALTHY. I’ll bring carrots or celery, dried fruit, apples or oranges.
However, more often than not, my snacking comes from EVIL vending machines. As a full-time student who has a full-time job, I often do not have the time to plan ahead. Then I end up picking the lesser of the vending machine evils.
These Mr. Kristers and Steaz drinks are just what I need!!

Convenience store marble-cake and Combos. Bad. Especially in the middle of the night.

Fresh fruit, kombucha, water and Sambazon Acai packs = good.
Steaz soda loaded with cane sugar and dunkin donuts = bad.
