Go bling yourself!

Does it ever seem unjust that those who can actually afford to buy their own baubles and bling borrow them from designers for red carpet events and other occasions? It is the proverbial case of, “the rich get richer!”

Thanks to www.blingyourself.com, there is justice for the masses! Now, women and men can rent designer jewelry and accessories from some of the world’s most sought-after designers such as Christian Dior, Gucci, Roberto Coin, Tag Heuer, Rolex, John Hardy and Judith Ripka.

the most meaningful piece of jewelry I have ever owned was given to me by my best friend’s mother. My friend and I met through our parents at a party when we were 3 years old. We have been friends now for 28 years! Her parents have always been like my own. I am a child of divorce, so there have been lots of times they have been there for me, when my own parents have not. Recently, my best friend’s mom was diagnosed with colon cancer. Because of this she was very sick, very out of it, and my friend and I were super scared. In a moment of clarity, she had necklaces made for both my friend and I. She made pendants of our initials with a diamond on each from her very first wedding ring (she’s upgraded since then!). It was such a sentimental moment for all of us, we just lost it. Since this time, only a year has gone by but she is now cancer-free and totally back to “normal”. Every time I put this necklace on, I am reminded of how much I am loved…and how much I am thankful for every day. It is still the first and only diamond I have ever owned too…how can you forget that?

The most meaningful piece of jewelry I’ve ever owned is my wedding ring. I married my husband this past October 7th, and already we have been so much together. I suffer from Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and it consumes me most days. Because of Rich’s patience and love, I’ve been able to come out of that somewhat. Every time I start to panic, or feel down, a look at my wedding ring, and even if Rich isn’t there, I feel his presence and become more at ease.

The most meaningful piece of jewelry I own is my mother’s wedding band. She wore it everyday, after my father passed away she moved it to her right hand, and never took it off. I have been wearing it since the day she passed away. I have diamond rings that are precious to me, but I never take this ring off. It keeps me connected to her.

My most meaningful piece is two tiny diamond bands. They originally surrounded my grandmother’s engagement ring to create her wedding band. Now, my sister wears the engagement ring, and I the bands.

the most meaningful piece of jewelry I own is the pearl necklace my mother in law gave me on my wedding day. She had taken the pearl necklace that her late husband had given her and she had it re-strung…especially for me. So incredibly endearing!

I’m going to answer this because I really want to share it but I am not entering the contest as renting blings would be silly for me since we don’t go anywhere to wear them and wouldn’t want someone to miss out that would be able to use them. It is the first Christmas after I met my husband who at the time I’d been seeing 9 months. He was in the air force and he was very ready to get out that following sept. As far as he was concerned as long as he was still in there was no Christmas lol. He let me know that it was nothing personal but he was not celebrating Christmas this year and so would not be buying any presents for anyone including me. (Sigh) I have to admit I was rather disappointed but ok I could live with it. I didn’t let his bah humbug attitude rub off on me though and bought him presents but didn’t tell him about them, not wanting him to change his mind simply feeling he had to. Christmas arrived and my children passed out presents, I came a huge one which I had figured was from my mom but reading the tag it just said surprise. I opened it to find another box wrapped inside which said fooled you was all. All in all there was 7 wrapped boxes with the last one saying Love Aubrey. He bought me a diamond pendant for our first Christmas together. It meant so very much to me given that he had really taken some time to make it a special present. Unfortunately I lost it in Hurricane Katrina but it will forever reside in my heart. I know how very mushy!
