My sexy little pole: Pole dancing for fitness

Never underestimate the value of a good workout.
The hottest fitness craze right now is pole dancing and classes. A lot of the celebs we love to be jealous of revere it, and it’s been cropping up in gyms and DVDs far and wide.
Now imagine how much fun is it to be able to surprise someone with a special performance right in their own home???
Or, excite yourself with your the hot new bod it can help you create.
Passion Parties’ My Sexy Little Pole has revolutionized my fitness regime - and it can for you too.
The possibilities are endless. You can use it to work out (cardio striptease beats Pilates any day!), or to sexy up an evening with your honey. This sturdy pole can mount permanently or be taken down in between “shows.”
I cannot stop gushing.
“My Sexy Little Pole” is a professional-edition stripper pole made out of stainless steel, that is strong, safe and durable! The pole installs and can be put away in minutes, and is perfect for beginners and the more advanced dancers. Pole dancing is very much an exercise in seduction, but also increases self-confidence, improves your body image, and heats up even the hottest of sex. It also improves tone and body shaping, increases your flexibility, aerobic cardio strengthening — and it strengthens and tightens the tummy, back and butt!
And I got to share a pole with one of you! (That sounded dirty.) To have had a chance to win the Sexy Little Pole, readers needed to tell me the origin of pole dancing as a fitness regime, and name three celebrities that have publicly embraced it — then tell me how pole dancing can add excitement to your own life.
The contest is now over, and you can see the top 3 entries below. But if you love the idea and you want a pole of your own, you can buy a pole-dancing pole here, and get fit as you try out your very own dance moves! And if you want some more tips, check out the book The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Exotic and Pole Dancing Illustrated.

Well, I do know this much from my little bit of research. I hope it is accurate.
Pole dancing has been traced back to the American depression era (WOW!). Back then, a traveling fair would set up side shows, including a tent for the “Hoochi Coochi” dancers. These dancers performed with a flair similar to belly dancing + burlesque dancers. Due to the small spaces, they would use the tent poles to “dance with”. Tent poles eventually became dance poles and VIOLA — pole dancing!
Now as you can imagine pole dancing involves a good amount of muscle and coordination (as well as a little bit of sexxy) to pull off. It has most often been associated with strip clubs, but recently, “artistic pole dancing” has taken off with a bang.
Af far as using pole dancing as a fitness regime, it started as just a fun way to work out. The pole can be used quite athletically. The dancer can climb, spin, invert their body and do god knows what else with their body using the pole. From my research, it seems that the muscle areas most exercised are the upper body and the “core strength” muscles.
Several pole dancing classes have popped up around the world and I’m sure if one enrolled in the right class, they may catch a glimpse of Kate Hudson, Teri Hatcher or even Jessica Alba (pre-baby days, that is).
Now as for me and my hubby? Well, we just got married, so we are always looking for a way to spice up our lives. The spicier the better! And this pole looks like the hot sauce we need. I say that now, but when I get drunk and try to spin around on the pole and break my neck …. well …. we may need a few spicy medics in the bedroom. LoL.

Pole dancing is a form of dancing/gymnastics that involves muscular endurance and coordination as well as sensuality. It involves dancing sensually with a vertical pole. The dancer(s) may simply hold the pole, or use it to perform more athletic moves such as climbs, spins, and body inversions. Upper body and core strength are important to proficiency, which takes time to develop. Sheila Kelley, a US actress, is attributed to have catapulted pole dancing from strip clubs to health clubs. While researching for her role as a dancer at a Los Angeles strip club in the film Dancing at the Blue Iguana, Sheila Kelley appreciated the fitness benefits of pole dancing. In 2002, she incorporated pole dancing moves into her women-only fitness classes. Pole dancing work the muscles of the arm, shoulder and torso in achieving the spins, poses, tricks and linking moves. As a result, pole dancing enhances:
- stability
- balance
- flexibility
- posture
- muscle tone and strength in the thighs, buttocks and arms
Generally, a session can burn around 250 calories in a 45 minute session. In addition to weight loss, pole dancing as exercise can decrease blood pressure and cholesterol, increase bone density and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.
Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Carmen Electra, Kate Hudson, Madonna, Teri Hatcher, Demi Moore, Angelina Jolie, Kate Moss, Kylie Minogue and Pamela Anderson all attribute their celebrity bodies to pole dancing.
My husband and I have been married for 4 years and have been together for 6. The pole dancing would add some much need creativity and spice to our marriage. And then my hubby wouldn’t have to visit a strip club to get some quality entertainment.

The origins of pole dancing dates back to the 12th century in India, in which a form of yoga (called Mallakhamb, meaning “man of power” or “gymnasts pole”) practiced on a wooden pole and on rope. However, the discipline we know today is suspected to be formed as recently as 250 years ago. A second discipline directly relating to today’s pole dance (known as Mallastambha, meaning “gymnasts pillar”), which used a mainly iron pole. It was formerly used by wrestlers to build up strength. However, strippers began using the pole as an exotic dance prop in strip clubs during the 1970s, which is what pole dancing is most associated with today (in addition to fitness purposes). In strip clubs, the dancer may simply hold the pole and dance, or use it to perform more athletic moves such as climbs, spins, and body inversions. According to a source, “upper body and core strength are important to proficiency, which takes time to develop.” Because of the incredible fitness benefits, pole dancing as a fitness regime has become increasingly popular in recent years, helping women get in shape, build confidence and have fun. Pole dancing classes are attributed to helping women achieve a stronger, leaner pysical state, but also are known for helping build one’s confidence and self-esteem.
Carmen Electra, Kylie Minogue, and the Spice Girls have all been known for using pole dancing as a means to get their celebrity bodies in shape. The Spice Girls not only used poles to help get their pre-baby bodies back before their current tour, but liked it so much, they actually incorporated it into their choreography for a set!
A fitness pole would be an amazing way to start off my new year, as I have begun a health kick (which includes a new vegetarian diet) and this would be the perfect way to get toned and build strength. I have found that I have had a lot less strength and endurance during the past year (as I have lost weight simply through diet methods) and I think the pole would give me some of this back. Not only that, but I’m normally quite shy, and I feel doing somthing that I typically might notdo would be a geat start to a new me in a new year. My boyfriend and I are going on 4 years together in June, and I’d like to show him a sexy, confident new girlfriend who isn’t afraid to try new things. The pole is a great way to start!

My daughter rocks the brown booties. People always declare her to be “very fashionable” when she wears them. Shoo Shoo also makes great winter booties. We have the cream leather ones, but I have my eye on a suede pair for next winter…
