Boots: Made-to-order!

Remember all the times when you were salivating through the mall, moved to distraction over those hot boots you saw in that store window, only to finally walk in and then walk out empty-handed?

There seems to be no logic to it, but for many of us, no matter how well we do at slimming down the rest of our body, our calves remain too wide to fit into any fashionable boots. People find it hard to believe that I, as a size 0, have this problem.

But I do! And so does my mom, many of my friends, and probably a lot of you. And whether your calves are big-boned, “athletic” or just plain too wide, you are pissed as hell you can’t have sexy heeled tall boots.

Well, guess what? YOU CAN.

Ayla Boots are a dream come true for girls everywhere. Affordable custom-measured boots that fit to your calf width and shoe size, no matter how off you think those dimensions are. Excellent workmanship, fine leather…you have to see it to believe it.

Just visit Ayla’s web site and follow the instructions for measuring your calf, choose your style, and order (these boots would be affordable even if they weren’t special!).

My boots proved to be calf-friendly, gliding right into place…and yours will too! And just to share how special they are, one of you will win a pair. Write in with your boot-search-dramas, and how far and wide you’ve searched for results. One winner will receive a pair of their very own - free!

I can NOT believe this exists. Okay, well, I can. There is a HUGE need for boots like these. Aly, you always find the BEST products! Boots like these are long overdue!

I LOVE the look of tall boots, and I do have one pair I got several years ago. I have NEVER fit properly in them, but the good thing (at the time) was: they went on my leg. Granted, they took some contortion on my part, but they did go on my body. Currently they do not. My calf is a little wider (it gets this way from all of the walking I do — even when I lose weight I have a wide calf). I keep these boots in my closet (they are currently gathering dust) hoping someday they will go on if my legs get a little slimmer… but what about NOW?

One Halloween, I went as Mystique from the X-Men, and I had to find knee-high white vinyl boots. It was a nightmare! Nothing went on my leg! White vinyl was hard enough, but finding one that went ON my leg was near impossible! I went from store to store looking — everything from Hot Topic to adult stores with vinyl apparel. Still nothing fit my leg! Ultimately I had to find a pair online and hope they fit (they had lacing up the front so I knew I could “expand” them). Still, I felt like a woman with freakishly bulky legs! I’d consider myself a pretty “average” sized person, too! I know there are a lot of ladies my size having this exact problem.

Help help help! I’d love to have some cool knee-high boots that actually FIT me this fall and winter!!!

OMG I have had boot issues for years, I spend the whole winter pissed. I can’t get stylish boots. I go into shoe store after shoe store and women that out weigh me by 100 pounds are getting boots, but no boots for me. I can go into a plus size store, where they sell plether farty boots, that I don’t want, not to worry they won’t fit because I wear a size 7 so proportionately my calf is too large for my foot. I need these boots for both my athletic legs and my mental health. Aly, only you can help me.

This is what I have been dreaming about! For years I have longed to own a pair of knee-high boots; but alas, have yet to find a store able to accommodate a tall girl who happens to have big feet, and wimpy calves. Most stores don’t carry the size 11 I require. When I am able to find a knee-high boot in an 11, the calf portion of the boot is always too big. Ugh! I apparently have ridiculously small calves (I’m forever doing calf raises, trying to pump up those muscles while envying my girlfriends who have lovely, full calves to fill out their boots!) There is nothing more depressing than boot shopping for someone with big feet and small calves. Aly, you always offer the best solutions to problems facing today’s women! Please help me fulfill my dream of owning a pair of knee-high boots!! I long to wear fabulous shoes instead of the pathetic, out-of-date shoes I currently own. Help me Aly, PLEASE!!!

    …And one time at 4-H Camp…

One week every summer from the ages of 10-22, I would go deep into the woods of Stokes State Forest, sleep in a cabin, and participate in all things camp-related, including dodge balls, bears, bats (the animal), and skunks. Each night, the counselors would stage marvelous skits and games, culminating with a campfire on the last night. I remember my first campfire, vividly…hosted by “Boopsie” and her “sisters” (male counselors dressed in drag). When Boopsie’s water balloon boob popped out of her dress and splashed on the ground, I knew I had to participate in the antics when I grew older.

Performing during the campfire was an elite, difficult-to-infiltrate, invite-only affair, but my time had come! My first assignment was to be “Princess Hot-Crossed-Buns” (a spoof of Star Wars’ Princess Leia). My costume was the spitting image of Leia circa 1977’s Episode 4 (http://www.jedi-academy.com/film/leia_anh01.jpg), complete with gelatin-coated hair to form proper buns. The next year I was to portray Prudence Flatulence (a spoof of Austin Power’s Felicity Shagwell). I searched high and low for just the right costume…vintage stores, retail stores, thrift stores from New Hope, PA to Somerset, NJ to locally. I found an authentic mini-dress from the 1960’s and totally looked the part with one exception…footwear. However, my quest for boots was fruitless. I fashioned Mary-Janes with black lycra to resemble thigh-high boots…all because my legs are far too full to fit in any boot. The result? Total disappointment and inappropriate mooning of the campers each time I’d bend to pull up one of my fallen or slipping “boots.”

My boot woes do not stop there. I was also an avid equestrian in my high school years. Tall boots are REQUIRED for any English riding discipline. Not only do my legs not fit in any boots without first leaving them on a mechanical boot stretcher (which weakens the leather), but I even had difficulty finding riding breeches (pants w/ inside knee patches for those of you not in the know). It’s embarrassing to have to ask 3 people to assist in pulling off one boot I’d forced on my enormous calf and no matter how much stretching and baby powder prior, I’d still end up w/ the worst Charlie horse (pun not intended) of my life, forcing me to limp for 2 days after a competition.

Owning a pair of tall boots would be a dream-come-true at this stage in life. I own far too many skirts to stash them away for entire seasons due to a lack of proper cool weather footwear. How’d you like to help a gal out?

I have very athletic 17.25″ calves (thanks, Dad), and not only have I had boot-drama, I’ve had boot humiliation. I walked into a Harold’s store and saw these beautiful brown leather boots that were advertised as “wide-calf” boots. I tried on a pair and was able to zip them up only 3/4 of the way. The sales lady was not just surprised, she was flabbergasted. She jumped up and screamed to her colleague on the other side of the store, “Jane! You have to come here! This lady, the boots don’t fit her!! She can’t zip them!! Come LOOK!!!!” I have not attempted another boot purchase since then, so I would love it if these boots could fit me. I will definitely have to give them a try.

not only the wide calf problem-also wide feet! Sometimes I feel like the hobits in the Lord of the rings movie or fred flintstone!
Do you make the tall boots for the wide foot challenged? It will be wonderful to have a pair of beautiful boots! Thank you in the cause of all of us who feel like cinderellas stepsisters!

I have the exact opposite problem. Every pair of boots I try on leave my legs looking ridiculous as my calves never even touch the sides of the boots.
