Preschoolers are starting to really understand that this is a big world they live in - and suddenly they want to experience everything! Your three and four year old is curious about everything. These little scientists want to experience how everything smells and tastes and feels. They are busy playing and learning. Developing language, new fine motor skills and gaining more control over their gross motor skills. As their ability to communicate increases, they get better at expressing their needs. They become increasingly independent, however with this newfound independence sometimes comes increasing fears - of new places and things and experiences, like preschool. With their independence also comes some temper tantrums. Your preschool child will test limits and push the boundaries to see where that will get them. Preschoolers need you to be fair and consistent, so they know they are safe and can feel comfortable understanding exactly what behavior you expect from them. Preschoolers are learning their manners and they want to please you. Preschoolers have lots of questions and they thrive on clear and simple rules! You might have a picky eater. How can you leverage their natural curiousity to try new foods?
